How do I register a new account?
Please contact me to receive a registration token.
Then create an account on Element Web (preferably from your
laptop or home computer) and enter your desired username and an active email address.
Enter the registration token and confirm your email address.
What's my username?
Your username is the name you chose during registration. Your full Matrix ID
is @username:henhouse.im. This is what other people use to reach you.
What's my homeserver?
Your homeserver is henhouse.im. You need to select it when signing in
on a new device or app, as most clients default to matrix.org. Depending on the client,
you may need to enter henhouse.im or https://henhouse.im.
How do I log in?
Depending on the client, you can log in with your username, email address or full Matrix ID.
Make sure that henhouse.im is selected as the homeserver.
On mobile, please use Element X instead of Element Classic.
What if I can't verify my new session?
You can confirm the verification request from another active session or use your recovery key.
If neither is available, you can reset your encryption in the security settings, but this means
older encrypted messages may become unreadable. Make sure to set up a new recovery key afterwards.
How do I switch from Element Classic to Element X?
Install Element X and sign in to your existing
henhouse.im account. Do not create a new account. You will be asked to verify your new session.
Your chat history will be available automatically. Both apps can run side by side during the
transition. Once everything works as expected, Element Classic can be removed.
